We Dance Barefoot

Boundaries & Consent

Self-Regulation

Stay Hydrated

It is customary in Biodanza to dance barefoot, whether on carpet, a wooden floor, a field or a beach. This gives the best opportunity for grounding. We stock Rawganic wipes. Please bring your favourite brand if you prefer.

There will be times during the session when your mouth is dry or you are thirsty. Please take time to keep yourself hydrated to maintain balanced physiology. Bring a bottle or flask if you have a favourite source. Tap water will always be available.

At any time, please check in with yourself that you are comfortable to continue. You may be tired, find a particular exercise a challenge or be triggered by an encounter within the group. Whatever the reason, quietly move away and sit quietly before rejoining the group.

Following on from general comments on self-regulation, some exercises invite a touch or contact for which you are not ready. You may know this in advance, or discover that you find something about the touch or contact uncomfortable or a challenge.

In such cases please let your partner know - if you are working in pairs - or quietly detach from the group until the level of contact is acceptable. Please do signal to a partner that their touch or level of contact is invasive or challenging in some other way.

Partners need to be ready to read such responses and seek consent to continue in a non-verbal way, and provide an acceptable level of touch or contact. Biodanza provides a space in which such responses and reactions can be handled in a way which encourages self-discovery and growth, at a pace which participants find comfortable.
